International Circle

Art Connects

Get involved as a member of the Städelverein and share your art passion with a broad international circle of art friends at one of the most inspiring art institutions in Frankfurt and Germany, while enjoying a wealth of year-round benefits.

Travels and dialogues have often been the source of inspiration for art creations. Our art collection covers a broad range of artworks by European and international artists.

To foster the dialogue between the international citizens in the Frankfurt region and the art institutions, the Städelverein initiated the International Circle of Art Friends for people with international backgrounds who want to discover art and share their passion for art in a unique atmosphere in Frankfurt, a modern, international city with a diverse cultural landscape.

International Circle members of the Städelverein have access to exhibitions, collections, events and the complete program of the Städelverein, including inspiring art journeys and diverse connections.

In the spirit of “citizens’ engagement”, members of the Städelverein support the world-renowned collections of the Städel Museum and Liebieghaus and expand their knowledge. They help to make new acquisitions possible and foster the museums’ development.

The Städelverein - About us

The Städelscher Museums-Verein has been supporting the museum work since 1899 and is a firmly established entity in the culture and society of Frankfurt, carrying on the city’s long tradition of civil art patronage. With more than 7,900 friends of art, the society of friends of the Städel Museum and the Liebieghaus Sculpture Collection provides financial and non-material assistance to both museums.
Its primary goal is to enrich the collections by facilitating the purchase of artworks.

For our members we provide interesting access to contacts within the art scene in Frankfurt. With our diverse program of events, we offer opportunities to learn more about art and engage in art dialogues.

Citizens from the region, new arrivals in Frankfurt, young and old, newcomers to art and art connoisseurs, companies and representatives of business, culture and the media are all active on our behalf.

Städelclub – Young Members

The Städelclub for young art friends under the age of 40 offers a direct connection to art. With a highly diverse program – from the old masters to the present – for everyone who enjoys learning about art, making contacts and discovering the art scene in and around Frankfurt. Our events cater to the interests of vocational trainees, students, employees and young families. We organize events with art experts in museums, galleries, exhibitions or behind the scenes.

Art Collections - What We Make Possible

Membership fees and donations have enabled the acquisition of a large number of important artworks by artists such as Lucas Cranach, Edgar Degas, Max Liebermann, Otto Dix, Pablo Picasso and Philip Guston, just to name a few. And there are many more acquisitions included objects dating from the Middle Ages to the present, for the painting gallery, the Department of Prints and Drawings and Sculpures for the Liebieghaus.
Check out our gallery for a selection of our acquisitions.
